Birthing Mother Project

Have you also realised that there is so much going on in your inner world on your journey through motherhood? And that we go through a major transformation while giving birth to ourselves as mothers (not only our children), that nobody talks about? Birth is a rite of passage for our babies as it is for us in the process of becoming mothers (matrescence).
Let’s start talking about the true, raw, real experiences of what was going on for the women in their inner worlds, when becoming a mother and being a woman.
Following my calling, I would like to write a book that is bringing up the importance of becoming a mother, of postpartum support and community in building a thriving mother centered culture and families. This will be combined with stories from mothers like yourself, about being born as mothers, becoming a mother and being a mother.
I would love you to be part of this project called Birthing Mother and share your story. This project will serve to raise awareness on our experiences as Mothers in a culture that doesn’t always value and support motherhood, highlighting the vastness and complexity of being born as a mother and mothering our children.
By bringing awareness to mothers’ needs, my hope is to keep creating the Mother Culture, that is based on supportive community, beyond just surviving through motherhood. Sharing our stories is a natural way to process and integrate our experiences and learn from hearing the journeys of others. Yet this is very often a forgotten part of the healing and integration process.
Suggested prompts for writing:
Please share briefly about your birth experience (where, how, with whom, …)
How did the birth experience impact you in becoming a mother and the way you were/are mothering your child(ren)?
How was the experience of the immediate and further postpartum for you?
What was most transformational for you?
What did you miss or lack the most?
What helped you to get through it/or is helping you?
What did you learn about yourself in becoming a Mother?
If you were to give one advice to an expectant mother….what would you tell her?
No need to use any of these above, just let it free flow…
